New track up

October 16th, 2011

Ok, it’s not new but you haven’t heard it yet.

Gift was originally demoed with the band Red Carpet in 2006. This version was recorded by JVA in November 2009 – Olli’s on drums, Samuli on bass, me doing the rest.

Semifinal tomorrow

July 12th, 2011

Our next show is tomorrow at Semifinal, Helsinki. Sadly it will be the last show with Olli on his famous suitcase drums – at least for a couple of years. Starting from next month he’ll be more prominent on the Bangladesh indie pop scene..

So come see us while you still can! No pressure.

Live and not so loud

September 8th, 2010

Keikka @ Belly

So nice to get to play some live shows next month.. it’s been a while.
7.10. Bar Loose, Helsinki
16.10. Liberte, Helsinki

The psychedelic picture above is from our first show at Belly, Helsinki, last year. The band sounds a bit different these days. Inspired by our ultra quiet sister band Nopat (me, Samuli and Janne play in both bands) we’ve been looking for ways to bring down the volume when we play. The solution has been, well, mostly turning down the volume. As well as replacing the bass drum with a cardboard box..

It’s strange hearing mistakes in my playing I’ve always made but couldn’t make out before because of all the noise. But it feels good to go home after rehearsal and not have your ears ringing..

It’s like, this is the way music should be made and heard.

Earplugs suck.

PS. Don’t worry, we still rock a bit. Kinda.

For starters, some good news

Hello, my name is Petri. I welcome you to this site, dedicated to the music of yours truly and my comrades.

The first full length Wonderminers album is trying to find it’s way out to the world. Two years in the making, the recording was finally finished this summer. Even in it’s roughly mixed state, I’m super proud of it. And once a suitable record label is found, you’ll get to hear it too.

As a little taster, the first track of the album is available for download, starting now!

The Wonderminers - Good news (first mix)

“Good news” was recorded by Jarno Alho and me. This mix by Mikael Hakkarainen. Players:
Petri – vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards
Olli – drums
Guest co-starring on vocals is Heidi Horila
